Dr. Bob Melamede Demands Change for Cannabis Research

Nicholas Demski January 5, 2019 7 comments

Dr. Bob Melamede is a key cannabis advocate with doctoral degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics. His computer has 13,000 cannabis research articles on it, 1000 of which demonstrate the anti-cancer power of cannabis. That pisses him off.

Dr. Bob Melamede would want you to know there’s a human perception problem that we all suffer from, known as bias. The brain will take one word and rapidly generate the imagery, vocabulary, and ideas needed to support and comprehend the bias. For example: ‘stoner.’

Most people immediately formed the following image: overweight, 20s-something male sitting on a beat-up couch in his parent’s basement watching TV and eating Cheetos. This stereotype is so heavily ingrained into our cultural bias that even the greatest cannabis advocate likely held some variation in his or her brain when cued with the word ‘stoner.’

However, this is not an accurate portrayal for people who regularly consume cannabis. Do those types of stereotypes exist? Sure, but the overwhelming majority of stoners use cannabis as a medicine and as a tool to improve their lives. These people are happy, balanced, healthy, fully-functioning adults who contribute to society on a daily basis.

Is Dr. Bob Melamede a Stoner?

Dr. Bob Melamede has a doctoral degree in biochemistry and molecular genetics. Would you expect that he also consumes enough cannabis each day to plant most consumers on their faces? Probably not, but his story is one of reality, compared to the bias of what a ‘stoner’ looks like.

Dr. Bob is an advocate for cannabis, a leader in an industry that’s long been held underground, and a man with a passion for healing with plants. The charismatic, well-thought, mustachioed gentlemen believes the endocannabinoid system exists in our bodies for a good reason. He says that ‘he’s always wanted to know what life is,’ and through that pursuit, he has discovered the vast importance of our endocannabinoid system. He speaks to its importance within a number of our homeostatic systems:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Muscular
  • Digestion
  • Stress responses
  • And more

Dr Bob on the Endocannabinoid System

In his own words, he says that the endocannabinoid system is the ‘thermostat’ of our own bodies. It’s a regulatory system that ensures our bodies function correctly and responds to their environment in the same way a thermostat responds to the environment of our homes.

Of course, our endocannabinoid system creates its own version of cannabinoids, but we can find additional inputs from plants, such as Cannabis. These additional inputs have a wide variety of documented health benefits for humans, such as:

[bsa_pro_ad_space id=26]
  • Pain relief
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Improved sleep outcomes
  • And much, much more

Perhaps the most important health benefit of cannabis, as Dr. Bob says, is it’s ‘very clear, unambiguous, cancer-killing ability.

Why are we NOT saying ‘Cannabis treats cancer’?

Dr. Bob is pissed because he can access 12,000-13,000 scientific articles on his computer in a moment’s notice—with nearly 1,000 of them pointing to the anti-cancer effects of cannabis. Yet, the government say there isn’t enough research on its efficacy.

What has him even more upset is that the U.S. Government still labels cannabis as a Schedule I drug. This means that it has “zero medicinal value.” Furthermore, Schedule I status impedes research into its use.

So, as a man with doctoral degrees in how the human body works, and years experience dealing with cannabis, it disappoints Dr Bob that the government will not let people heal with a plant.

It’s easy to assume that ‘stoners’ are the simple-minded, lazy people that media feeds us. But, most of them are more like the people who use coffee in the morning before work and exercise in the evening before having dinner with their families. Cannabis is a plant that provides countless benefits to its consumers, and those consumers are just as productive as any other subset of people in our society.

Dr Bob Melamede Sees Injustice

Dr Bob sees injustice in the Western world. He sees ignorance and propaganda infecting our minds. And he sees people behind bars for a lifetime because they consumed an herb. And, most importantly, he sees the role of cannabis in providing people with healthy, happy lives. Dr. Bob is s big advocate for taking charge of our own health through and cannabis is one important way to achieve that.

Yet our bias makes us see a plant that creates lazy, thoughtless zombies of its consumers. Dr Bob doesn’t like that idea, and he’s at work changing it.

Thank you… I have NOT been a supporter of cannabis most of my life of 78 years… Twelve years ago, I had a paradigm shift learning that we have a endocannabinoid system that plays an important role in keeping our other systems in balance. We actually produce the same cannabinoids that are in the plant! I also have worked with dozens of clients teaching them how to conquer their diseases including many with cancer. There are powerful success experiences that we have experienced. My wife and I both use a small amount of the oil an hour before bed primarily for preventative purposes. Follow the money trail back in the thirties and you quickly will see the power and greed involved – as it is today!

Lets get the show on the road…we are not stoners we are getting well !!!

I say that we inundate the Internet with all those articles and research! We need to teach the world that it is a plant and it heals. It saved my life and I’m not a stoner. Was as a teen but not it’s the best medicine on my care plan! Let’s tell everyone about it!!!

  5. I suffer from epilepsy and extreme anxiety, which can and does initiate seizures at times. I am prescribed ativant which I hate for anxiety and Lamotrigine for seizures. My med of choice is marijuana. Drs have me paranoid not to use seizure meds so I haven’t stopped. However, as long as I have pot i don’t use ativant. Trying how to go about med mj card in state illegal except for medicinal and that is a 3 month process with relationship with same Dr for 3 months. I’m literally afraid to mention to Dr to start process. Any advice or direction? I’ve relocated from California where anyone can buy..advantage of med card there is no taxes.

We need more Doctors to be unbiased in using Cannabis. I live in a State that dosent approve Cannabis. So I ordered some of RSO (Rick Simpson Oil) in Oregon and Washington. While my husbands in the hospital dying of AML Leukemia, We Had nothing to lose if we tried giving him some more time. The Doctor Threatened me with calling Security and having me thrown out. I told him go ahead i was still giving him cannabis. He walked away mad.
