CBD For Focus Is The Latest College Campus Craze

Nicholas Demski

Students and employees alike use CBD for focus, memory retention, and reduction of anxiety. It’s the new coffee, except better and more portable.

CBD is ever-growing in its popularity with no peak in sight. Its medical benefits are widely touted, including pain control, anti-inflammatory action, and even preventing metastasis of cancer cells. Most interestingly, CBD also has the ability to combat cognitive decline, according to a 2017 study in Frontiers in Pharmacology. It was found that this non-psychoactive cannabinoid promotes the growth of new brain cells. And if it can help with neurogenesis, it may be also be improving memory which leads me to wonder, can I use CBD for focus?

Is CBD The New Coffee?

The short and wonderful answer to that is: Yes! CBD for focus is already to stuff of college campus legend.

Cannabis is the perfect blend of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other minor plant compounds that may rival the coffee bean for boosting focus. CBD-rich cannabis products are, right this very minute, pulling all nighters with some of the finest young minds in North America. Caffeine is not the ideal study buddy because coffee can’t often be taken into hallowed halls of learning. Leave that mug at the door, please and thank you.

Instead, CBD for focus and study stamina is discrete (powders, gummies, suckers, candies, etc), perfectly transportable and doesn’t leave you with bad (coffee) breath.

Using CBD For Focus Can Quiet Your Anxiety

Focus is about being fully engaged with the moment. This is impossible when your mind is distracted by fear or anxiety. If you’re thinking about outside forces acting upon you, then you’re not focusing on the task at hand.

This how CBD may help improve focus: by reducing our fear and anxiety. A 2011 study in Neuropsychopharmacology showed that CBD could reduce one of the most prevalent anxieties of all: the fear of public speaking. The authors of the study mention that CBD is able to help people speak in public when they would otherwise have shaky knees.

“Pretreatment with CBD significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort in their speech performance.”

Who would’ve thought that a plant could devise a way to produce the chemicals necessary to help people speak in public?

It makes me wonder what our ancient ancestors might have used cannabis for: reducing the fear of snakes when out hunting, relieving the anxiety of social pressures, or giving people the focus to spend hours creating tools out of stones or baskets out of coconut shells.

What’s clear is that cannabis has always been a giving plant. What I love most about cannabis is that it’s a giving plant that doesn’t ask for much. It doesn’t produce vats of potent solvents to dissolve prey, it doesn’t clamp down on living creatures, nor does it even bother to hide its nectar behind biological trap doors. It grows wildly, gives freely, and offers each person a unique answer to their questions.

Now focus, and remember that.
