Dana: Chronic Pain
Her doctor told her she could never get off Oxy because she was dependent and then doubled her prescription!
My name is Dana. In 2010 I sustained a neck injury that resulted in fusion surgery for C5-C6. In 2011, I was diagnosed with failed fusion, TOS, depression, anxiety, degenerative disk disease, and stenosis.
I started with Norco and antidepressants. Then I moved onto oxycodone, oxymorphone, and methadone. Plus Opana, and Cymbalta. I forgot a whole week of my life…
I ended up on 14 different medications with an oxycodone level of 120 mg per day. But that wasn’t even enough. I doubled that because it stopped working. My doctor actually told me that I’d have to take opiates forever because I was physiologically dependent!!
I decided that wasn’t going to be my life. So, I quit.
I used cannabis to do it. I started with vape and a fabulous pain rehab clinic. Using exercise, meditation, cannabis, and an understanding of the pain cycle I was able to get free.
I find the best strains for my pain are Girl Scout Cookies, Blue Dream, and Gorilla Glue. I also use a CBD tincture and salve.
Cannabis has helped me and has given me no bad side effects. And it didn’t kill me.
