Jelly Belly Creator Makes CBD Jelly Beans With 38 Flavors

Jelly Belly creator debuts cannabis-infused jelly beans, the treat you didn’t know you needed until today.

In 1976, David Klein created ‘Jelly Belly’ jelly beans. Even though he sold the iconic brand in 1980, he stayed in the candy business.  After Klein learned about the benefits of CBD, he looked into infusing jelly beans with CBD jelly. His inspiration came after he found a gap in the market right between cannabis-infused chocolates and gummies.

Cannabis edibles enthusiasts are over the moon that Klein has decided to launch jelly beans infused with the cannabis-derived compound CBD (cannabidiol). The candy gives 38 flavors to choose from, like piña colada, mango, strawberry cheesecake, and toasted marshmallow. Each bean contains 10mg of CBD and is sold online by his company Spectrum Confections. You’ll be able to select original, sour, and sugar free options.

You Might Have Trouble Getting Them Though

Everyone loves jelly beans and some even have an emotional attachment to the sweet treat from fond childhood memories. The product immediately sold out after a successful media campaign in the middle of March 2019.

CBD is rapidly increasing in popularity and we are seeing new CBD-infused products enter the market everyday. David “Candy Man” Klein was not going to see that opportunity pass him by.

Spectrum Confections is 100 percent compliant with the law relating to CBD. The candy does not have a higher than .03% THC content.

Spectrum Confections offers the CBD Jelly Bean product in packages of 800 pieces each.

Coca Cola Also Want In

While Klein´s Company is trying to secure a patent for his formula, Coca Cola is also knocking on the CBD-product door. Already last year, Coca Cola announced that it is thinking of producing cannabis drinks. The target would be consumers looking for something to ease inflammation and similar pain-related conditions. CBD, not related to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is perfect for this.

CBD does not make you high. People use it for many different conditions like insomnia, anxiety, depressions, and seizures. CBD from hemp is widely accepted in the US with only four states creating legislation around it’s use. Even better, it looks like legalization of cannabis is on the horizon. Just last month, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker reintroduced a bill to legalize cannabis nationwide. This would also mean to expunge federal convictions for possession of the drug.

Booker first introduced the bill in 2017 and it is now the latest in a series of cannabis-related proposals by the forerunners of the 2020 candidates. Washington D.C. and ten states have already fully legalized cannabis for recreational use. Several state legislatures are presently looking into their own laws with respect to legalization.

A Sound Business Investment For Jelly Belly

A team of analysts of the investment bank, Cowen, has estimated that the US market for CBD could possibly reach $16 billion by 2025. It currently hits between $1billion and $2billion.

The popularity of the product has grown over the last few years. Athough proving medical benefits are still in the early stages, it has already been found that CBD significantly reduces seizures among patients who suffer from the rare syndrome called Lennox-Gastaut. In 2017, a study also found that children suffering from Dravet syndrome had a drop in the number of seizures from 12.4 to 5.9 over a period of a month.

David Klein is ready for this share of the CBD market.  He stipulated, however, that he does not want to make health claims. He does believe the CBD in his new product “would help the world”.
