CBD for Sleep is Made Even Better with Melatonin and Nutracanna

Insomnia is a physical and psychological life-destroyer, but thankfully, there are safe, non-addicting options like CBD for sleep.

From the Editor: The following is a paid review of Nutracanna’s CBD-Melatonin Dissolvable Tablets.

Something happened to my sleep cycle after I turned 30, and it wasn’t good. I had gone through my whole life enjoying deep, complete, and rejuvenating nights of sleep, but something shifted. At first, I blamed increased life anxieties, and then I blamed my mattress. Eventually, it became clear to me that this wasn’t just a phase. Sleepless nights were my new reality. I was slowly turning into a sleep-deprived monster; mean and unfocussed. What were my options? I needed something. As someone who avoids pharmaceuticals as much as possible, I started madly Googling natural solutions like CBD and Melatonin for sleep. My daily quest kept turning up one response: CBD for sleep. And the company that popped up most frequently in the reviews for CBD sleep aids was Nutracanna.

I wasn’t new to cannabidiol (CBD). Some of my friends were already using it for anxiety, and it was all over the news for treating epilepsy.  But, I actually knew little about the differences between psychoactive THC, and the hundreds of other cannabinoids. I also discovered that CBD doesn’t make you high, like THC.  So, I kept digging into the research.

What I Found Out About CBD for Sleep

When I say I dug into the research, I mean I dug deep. It’s what I do. I went far beyond the “Top 5 Lists” and fluff pieces on CBD. I recently read a lot of the nitty-gritty details of peer-reviewed publications. I wanted to make sure that what I put into my body wasn’t going to harm it. Even if I answered the question, “is CBD good for sleep” I wanted to confirm it was safe for long-term use (not habit forming).

In my search, I found out many things about CBD for sleep. For example, in a rat model of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, CBD helped reduce anxiety-induced sleep issues, particularly improving the REM portion.

I also discovered that CBD improved the symptoms of REM disorder in patients who have Parkinson’s Disease. Less restlessness during the night means better overall sleep for these participants. While I don’t suffer from these health issues myself, the information was helpful for understanding what CBD could do to improve my own unsuccessful REM sleep cycles.

What Are the Risks for Using CBD?

I wanted to do my due diligence on the risks of CBD before I bought it. Common pharmaceutical pills cause drowsiness, dependence, and other adverse side effects – all of which I wanted to avoid. In my research, it became quite obvious that CBD is much different.

CBD for sleep is non-addicting

The Drug Enforcement Agency recently announced the reclassification of CBD from a Schedule I drug (no medical application and highly addictive) to a Schedule 5 drug (proven medical application and low risk of abuse). Numerous market studies on the subject also confirm this.

CBD for sleep is safe

In one of the most recent reviews of the literature, CBD was once again proven safe to use, even in high doses. According to researchers, “The often described favorable safety profile of CBD in humans was confirmed and extended by the reviewed research.” Any adverse effects are minor, and of low risk, when compared to similar drugs.

Why Did I Settle on NutraCanna

Melatonin has long been used as an effective sleep supplement. In fact, I’ve personally used it in the past to sort out the repercussions of jet lag. It is a safe, naturally occurring compound, which regulates our circadian rhythm. If our system is working correctly, our bodies adjust melatonin levels in response to sunrise and sunset. Unfortunately for me, this natural rhythm went completely out of whack when I hit 30.

Nutracanna is organically sourced from sustainably grown hemp, in the U.S. The tablets are so easy to use, just place under your tongue and wait for it to dissolve. This makes sure that both CBD and melatonin go straight into the blood stream, helping sleep come fast. Nutracanna also helps me stay asleep, which has been a huge issue for me.

The combination CBD + Melatonin dissolvable works best for me because CBD on its own isn’t enough some nights.  For example, if I’d had a long day at work, and I just couldn’t turn my brain off, I found the addition of melatonin helped a lot.

a happy young man who slept better

Sleep is a very complicated beast, especially when it’s fighting you. There is rarely a single, definable reason why you can’t sleep, which makes it a challenging health issue to address. Everyone will have different triggers and different solutions. In my case, I’ve found it’s helpful to combine CBD, melatonin, and meditation to overcome even the most restless and challenging nights.
